August 2012 - Mr & Mrs White!!

Finn and I were honoured to be part of our thespian friends wedding on the 31st of August. Lorna and Daniel have known each other and been together since Perth Youth Theatre days, and were in the very first production of STREETS the musical.
They kindly asked Finn and I if we could sing at their wedding reception and so we did!
We sang a selection on their favourite tunes and I sang and played percussion and guitar and Finn sang and played piano. It was a very enjoyable day/evening and we hope they and their guest had a great time!

Big Tent Festival 2012 with Finn Anderson

‘have had the most amazing festival weekend EVER! This is a pic of us playing in the Wee Shindig Tent! More photo's to appear soon! Didn't wanna leave ever! I am now a big fan of strawberry wine, Yurts, wooly ponchos, insulated artwork on trees, sooo many fantastic musicians too! That's it I am now a hippy! :-D – from my Facebook page!’

Yes it was probably the highlight of my year! Singing at a festival, with one of my best friends, the talented Finn Anderson.

We attended The Big Tent festival 2012 in Falkland, singing a set in the Shin Dig Tent! We had a blast! There we sat in a yurt watching the boys from Anderson, McGinty, Webster, Ward and Fisher play their songs acoustic and being interviewed! There and then I knew these guys were going to do so well in the next year!
We explored this amazing place for two days. I fell in love with it! Sat with bees, sang and danced along with all the amazing acts, and the Proclaimers where headlining! Such a lovely atmosphere and so much to do. Would love to come back and do it all again!

I really enjoy singing with my friends they are the most talented people I know and genuinely love their music.
Recently I have been singing with Finn at quite a few of his gigs, one being in Edinburgh, and a couple in St Andrews at it own festivals. It’s so much fun seeing different places and gigging in different kinds of venues.
Absolutely love it!

August 2012 - STREETS The Musical - curtain down

I had a blast! We were even asked to come back the next week in our venue. However we felt it best to finish when planned. What a great experience. Learned so much about the planning involved in putting on a show and the hard work put in to puling it off! I also enjoyed the interviews and press. Also attending special events was pretty awesome!
STREETS team! Well done. Loved working with you all and seeing this story come to life over the many months. I will absolutely miss playing my character Joni, what a special person she is!

I know for a fact this is not the last you will hear of ‘STREETS’. It might be for this cast however Finn’s musical masterpiece will not go forgotten. I look forward to what he comes up with in the future and wish him all the best!

I would love to come back again, hopefully starring in his next musical theatre piece!!! Haha!

See you next time Edinburgh!

‘It has been such a pleasure to work with every single person involved in Streets - The New Musical by Finn Anderson What a fantastic opportunity Finn Anderson has given us all to perform an original piece of theatre. I am so proud of what we managed to achieve! We all worked unbelievably hard. This will not be the last you here of 'Streets' - also a huge thank you to friends and family, your support throughout is much appreciated! Now to sleep for days and rest my voice :-D’  From my Facebook page

August 2012 - STREETS The Musical @ The Edinburgh Fringe

Here we are!!!
10 days at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival!

We got used to our venue quickly as we literally dumped our stuff and in less than 10 minutes put our set together on stage, we were pros as practiced in rehearsals! We got mic’d up and did a sound check. We ran through a couple numbers and practiced the fight scenes in our new space. It was a lot small than what we have performed on before but we managed and adjusted ourselves quickly!

I cannot be happier with how the Fringe went! Hard work certainly pays off! Not only did we put our all into every single performance, we were out on the streets promoting the show and managed to sell lots of tickets, the audiences also seemed to enjoy our show!
We performed a couple times on the royal mile stages and attracted crowds of people. We also managed to give small performances and previews of the show outside our venue. We learned some tricks for promoting shows.

1. Chalking pavements – Make big and clear it’s not illegal use arrows!

2. Have a big team of people flyering. Spread out!

3. Try to not just give away flyers. They did cost money!
4.Try and get people’s interest, speak with them are they free to go? DO they like musical theatre?

5. At points join together and sing a couple songs get crowds attention.

6. Use social networking sites to update your progress and promote show with blogs, pics and vids!

7. Have a good poster that sells your show for what it is!

8. Take advantage of the amount of people, companies and shows going about. Go see them and especially ones similar to yours, flyer before after that show and meet the cast get to know them and offer to help promote their if they do in return.

9. Keep working on show, don’t relax into it. Always warm up and keep on top of the material, give notes and take them.

10. Rest! Yes I know at the time it feels like you do not have a break. Always take time to relax have a nice meal, drink plenty water, take supplements and enjoy your time.
